Home Invasion Robbery

Posted in Uncategorized by Atherton Police Department on January 28, 2012

On 01/27/2012, at approximately 8:06 PM, residents of the 200 block of Atherton Avenue came to the Atherton Police Station to report that just minutes earlier, a male subject wearing a black mask, approximately 18-25 years of age had robbed her and her husband with a knife and a gun inside her home.
The Victim said she was sitting downstairs with her husband when she heard a noise coming from upstairs. As her husband started to walk up stairs to see what the noise was, the masked suspect came walking down the stairs. The suspect then grabbed the husband and demanded money. The suspect told the husband that he “needed money for his wife and children.” The husband and wife were able to escape by running out of their home, leaving the suspect behind inside their residence. The Victims then drove to the Atherton Police Station to report the robbery.
Atherton Officers, assisted by numerous Menlo Park PD Officers, responded to the scene and quickly set up a perimeter around the residence. A Redwood City Police Department K-9 unit responded to the scene and searched the Victim’s residence, as well as multiple properties surrounding the victim’s home.
Officers were unable to locate the suspect, who was further described as having a slender build and a thick Hispanic accent. A pellet gun and a knife believed to have been used in the crime were found in close proximity to the victim’s property.
At this time, the loss is approximately one hundred dollars in cash and two wrist watches (value unknown at this time).
The case remains under investigation. There is no further information at this time.
